Producing live events since 2013, Melissa is known for her calm, collaborative leadership and razor-sharp event plans. From projection festivals like Boston Brilliance to six editions of SO Festival, she brings a deep commitment to community impact (and a surprising love for evaluation spreadsheets). Co-founding Checkmate was a natural step in her mission to deliver thoughtful, people-first production - with a side of fun.

With roots in the music festival scene and a passion for inclusive arts, Lizzie has been working in events since 2010. She's known for bold ideas, brave creative choices, and a brilliant instinct for immersive storytelling. As founder of the not-for-profit Grubby Knees Ltd, she brings art to places and people often left out. She co-founded Checkmate to push creative boundaries, champion communities, and make magical things happen - sometimes while up a ladder.

Katie brings sharp attention to detail, a tireless work ethic, and a calm, solutions-focused mindset to every project. With five years in music venue management, she balances artist care, audience experience, and operations with ease. She has worked on large-scale festivals and cultural events across the UK, honing her passion for safe, inclusive, and well-run experiences. As Checkmate's health and safety lead, she makes sure creativity and compliance go hand in hand.
